About Cwm Harry

Cwm Harry is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It has a board of trustees and employs ten people, some full-time and some part-time.

As a social enterprise Cwm Harry has business, environmental and social objectives. It aims to return a profit which is invested in developing the company or to benefit its other objectives.

The People

Chief Executive: Adam Kennerley
Adam works as chief executive for Cwm Harry and also for Lightfoot Enterprises, based in Shropshire. The two positions combine to give him a wide overview of environmental development in Mid-Wales and the Borders and extensive contacts in this field of work. His interest is in engaging people to work collectively in order to achieve worthwhile change.

Development Officer: Richard Northridge
Richard has been the driving force behind Cwm Harry since its inception. Over the last ten years he has seen his ideas develop from the outlandish to mainstream acceptability. Experience of growing and composting on the small-scale has enabled the company to mature and take on the provision of food-waste collection to the community.

Operations Manager: David Clarke
David carries responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of the food-collection and the processing. He works hands on to ensure customer satisfaction and quality of service. He oversees the collection team and as a member of the senior management is involved in shaping the overall direction of the company.

The food-waste collection team are brilliant. My daughter says exactly the same. I don’t know what we did without them all these years. I can’t fault them.
Mrs S. Treowen

The Collection Team

Our crack team of collectors start the day at 7.30am and move through their rounds at lightning speed. All are known for their charm and helpful manner, so if you have any queries about the scheme, then just ask them. Be sure to have your bin out in good time in order to catch them.

The team are:
Wynn, the elder statesman of the quintet, and a man who knows his sheep
Rob, son of the elder statesman, and a man who likes his big machinery
Sion, a man in training for the Santa run, moves like a cheetah through the streets of Newtown
Anthony, taller than most, and younger than most, moves like a jaguar through the streets of Welshpool
John, a good conscript, able for anything that food-waste may throw at him

When not out on the collection rounds the team are busy making the compost at our Vastre premises or taking the waste to Ludlow for conversion to green electricity.
